As our two iconic institutions join together, details are still taking shape. Here are a few things we know for certain.
Why are the organizations coming together?
By combining resources, talent, and expertise, we’re able to create a stronger future for locally produced professional theater in Pittsburgh.
Will there still be musicals?
Yes. Musical theater is a core part of the new organization’s identity and future programming.
Will there still be plays?
Yes. Producing exceptional plays is equally important.
What happens to education programs?
Education is a core priority. Programs from both organizations are expected to continue and evolve as part of the new organization.
Will the Gene Kelly Awards and Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest continue?
Yes, the Gene Kelly Awards and Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest are important parts of Pittsburgh’s arts ecosystem, and we intend to preserve and celebrate both programs.
Where will performances take place?
Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh is a multi-venue producing company, bringing theater to stages across Pittsburgh.
Is one organization taking over the other?
No. This is a unification designed to build on the strengths, traditions, and audiences of both Pittsburgh CLO and Pittsburgh Public Theater.
Where will the new organization be headquartered?
Our administrative offices are located in the O’Reilly Theater. Our production facility is located in Bloomfield. Our productions will take place at multiple venues downtown.
Will you still produce familiar titles and audience favorites?
Yes. Classic musicals, contemporary musicals, beloved plays, family-friendly productions, new works, and artistic discoveries all have a place in Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh.
What can we expect for the future?
